My son has an issue with me in my black tube. One look and he protested loudly, going “EEEEEEEEE” and claiming that I look “shameful”. He insisted that I should change my outfit or he wouldn’t want to go out with me.
I really don’t know when he started observing my dress code and would pass his opinions on them without being asked. He’s not very descriptive and it’s usually, “very pretty”, “beautiful”, “not nice” or “ugly”. He does the same to his dad although with less frequency.
Anyway, I didn’t plan to step out of the house with that tube. I had meant to put a tee over it. Just that I was strutting it around because the weather was hot and I wanted to wait till minutes before I leave the house.
But I couldn’t help wondering if mothers need to take on a certain conservative approach to dressing because baring too much skin doesn’t sit well with our kids. Or is it just mine? Either way, his reaction was definitely instinctive because I’ve never said anything about this to him before.

Haha…I had the same problem with Damien too! I just take it that he’s a conservative chap, like the dad…
But my botak will go: “Wah, nice!” to whatever I wear… haha!
Eileen: Let’s hope Botak will not be influenced by his gor-gor so easily!

hopefully this is a sign that he’ll pick conservative type girls in the future
Irene: If that’s so, I’ll be glad. I must teach him to disapprove of girls showing their butt cracks!

his instinct of protecting you from prying eyes.
Mine don’t really comment much because I don’t bother dressing up. But when I do, and I know Zara approves my dressing when she’ll say, “mummy, when I’m bigger girl, you’ll let me wear this also ok?”
ZM: I guess there’s a difference between boys and girls.
