casserole of my life

When age gets in the way of blogging

concocted on Mon, 22 Dec 2008 @ 7:04 pm for Blogging

diy cosmeticsOver the weekend, I attended my first blogger event. Surprised? Well, it’s all for the sake of beauty really.

I’m passed hiding my identity these days. I figured that if I want to build my organic beauty blog seriously, I can’t remain too anonymous.

I admit I’m still uncomfortable about the idea and really prefer to remain behind the computer screen but there are times I do need to show myself if I want to break interesting stories. So I’ve sort of resigned to the fact that I can no longer be “reclusive”.

One thing that struck me when I attended the blogger event was that most of the bloggers are a lot younger than me. I think few people in my generation blog, and even lesser blog about beauty, cute stuff or celebrities! Geez. And that caused me to be slightly depressed because seriously, for how long can I blog on these topics considering I’m aging day by day? But people who know me understand it’s really something I love to do because these are the things that keep me feeling young!

Well, we’ll see how it goes. Maybe I’ll really stop asking my husband if I look young when I hit 50. Until that happens, there’s no stopping me from hitting the publish button.

  1. i like your beauty blog. and i thank god that it’s not another cutesy blog that way. i can’t even begin to trust those stuff on their blog. on yours, you have the track record as a blogger and the experience to boot. add your discerning eye, i trust your opinions alot more than the generic cutesy blogs.

Imp: Thanks for your comments! They mean a lot for me! :) Anyway, can’t be too cutesy at my age.

  2. Wishing you and your family a blessed christmas filled with joy and laughters! :)

Eileen: Thanks! Hope you’re having a wonderful time with your family too!

  3. For me, I like beauty info that suitable for my generation (30s and above) and I seriously don’t think anyone who younger than me will truely understand my concern of aging.

I’m fan of cute stuff too, it generates a ton of ‘Happy Hormone’ to stay young (in heart). ;)

    BT: I like that…Happy Hormone!

  4. You know the older one gets, the more you lose all your inhibitions…without even totally revealing yourself, we know who you are (maybe even better than the people who know your full name) and we’ll stay with you, always, but you have to keep pressing that publish button.

Happy New Year and publish away!

Thank you Carrie! Keep pressing too!

  6. I’m actually quite amazed with you for being so adventurous in trying out all the product.

If you asked me, I’ll take your advice than a younger blogger. So keep your beauty blog running.

Meanwhile, age is just a figure.. remembered someone said that.

ZM: Haha…I really wish age is just a figure and that the figure doesn’t show on my face at all!

  7. You are only as old as you feel, but I do tend to agree with your thoughts on this matter. It always makes me take a step back too having to socialise and deal with some who are barely out of school or even still in school. Doesn’t make me feel old, but it makes me feel a little jaded. Don’t stop though – I still read yours :)

PB: Haha…I think you’re far younger than me. Most of you from Asia are. I know some of the beauty bloggers in the Total Beauty Network are in my age group though.

  8. Sesame – Good to see you back blogging. For a while, I have stopped dropping by, until I saw your comment on Tin’s blog.

I believe there really no age limit to blogging or for beauty products. The beauty companies still need to sell their anti-aging products. Besides more loyal customers are developed from people our age group of 30s, most will stick with something that works well.

Rachel: Thanks for dropping by again. I guess we become more serious about skincare when our skin ages…
