casserole of my life

I can’t smell Christmas

concocted on Mon, 17 Dec 2007 @ 9:03 am for Family

christmas

The tree is finally up.  Our maid Ana took it out.  The man said we were supposed to decorate as a family.  Ended up, Ana did most of the job.  I put up about five items.  The man fixed the lights and put up the fairy.  The boy tried to put up a candy cane.

I think the X’mas tree has lost its lustre at this house.  Decorating the same 7 feet shopping centre X’mas tree for three years is no longer fun.  Not to mention that it’s fake and there’s no smell of pine, unlike our superpoker mummy who is appreciating the fullness and pine needles of her real X’mas tree!  (Yeah, I’m envious.)

Good thing Ana is still around to put it up.  She’ll also come back to take it down, and she’ll probably be around to do the same thing over again for the next two years.

But at least we got together to enjoy it as a family afterwards to the tunes of X’mas.   The boy was dancing and we felt merry.  And the truth is, a blinking fake tree didn’t look too bad at all.

So next on my shopping list?  Christmas pine fragrance oils.

  2. Erm…my tree is still not up yet!!!! I don’t know why we don’t really have the mood to put up the tree this year…the two boys must have drain our energy…hahaha.. :P

Eileen: The mood is not so strong this year. We almost didn’t want to take it out but eventually did to please the boy…

  3. Haha.. but using a fake tree is more environment friendly. You don’t need to chuck it after words.

7 feet tree? That’s tall. Ours is probably just 3 feet. We planned to get a bigger one when the girls are bigger..

ZM: Ya, no storage headache for the real tree. We had a 1 feet tree last time…

  5. when i was younger, i hated decorating the xmas tree! i was always nowhere to be found come decorating time. but when i turned 21, i took a more active interest in decorating my tree- with non-traditional trinkets. heeeeeee. :) think mini art-palettes/paint brushes…the sorts.

    imp: You’re creative! That’s cool.

  6. you didn’t post a picture of your Christmas tree? you know what i have always wanted a real one but hubby always talks me out of it.

Belle: Cos I posted pic of it last 2 years and got tired of showing the same tree. A real one would be nice for your home.

  7. Not bad, you have a Santa helper to put the tree out and take the tree down. Hey, look on the positive side, I can’t put up a tree (due to the lil’ terror) even though I really want to.

Ange: Okay, a blinking tree does brighten up the mood…

  8. too much work but when you finally have one real tree it feels great, i’v tried it once around 5 years ago.

miki: Hmm…I’ll stick to a fake tree…I’m afraid of dealing with work…
