casserole of my life

Lunch with my best friend

concocted on Wed, 25 Jul 2007 @ 11:56 pm for Relationships

Seriously I cannot recall when was the last time I met my best friend.  Nine months ago?  Or even a year ago?  It was definitely a long stretch of time that we haven’t seen each other, and didn’t even communicated much via phone or sms.

Despite the lapse, we haven’t grown uncomfortable with each other.  A friendship of 20 years can withstand that amount of time.  Yet there are obviously gaps in our lives that we have both missed out on each other.  Stories in our lives that’s hard to put across succintly in two hours.  Things that are happening that we are unable to explain too clearly as well.

Like I was surprised that she has grown her hair long and is actively doing yoga as well as quilting again.  And that she has made some new friend whom she didn’t speak about but this person kept calling her throughout our two hour lunch meeting.

It didn’t matter though.   We just focused on catching up and having lunch.   Her wasabi prawn salad and my garlic prawn pasta.  Her cappuccino and my ice passion tea.

A bit stuffed I must say.  But nonetheless a delight which could be repeated more often.

Oh hear me moan!

concocted on Tue, 24 Jul 2007 @ 12:31 pm for Blogging

I have been tagged with this moanful meme by Ally Bean at Crazy Dust In My Coffee.

5 people who will be annoyed you tagged them:

- Ashes at My Spellbound
- Doris at Life, Passion, Travel and More
- Tracy at Wahseh
- MamaBok at BabyBokChoi
- Mumsgather at Mumsgather

4 things that should go into room 101 and be removed from the face of the earth:

- Drugs
- Courtshoes
- Mosquitoes
- Cockcroaches

3 things people do that make you want to shake them violently:

- Cycling precariously on busy roads.
- Letting little kids walk on the outside of the road.
- Dashing across the road without regards for oncoming traffic.

2 things you find yourself moaning about:

- Not enough time.
- Not enough sleep.

1 thing the above answers tell you about yourself:

I’ve little tolerance on the road.  I’m currently working on installing a loudspeaker on my car so that I can curse and swear at these people from the inside of my car and make sure that the message gets transmitted to these road idiots loud and clear!

So ladies, let’s hear your MOANS!

Cornetto Blackforest Blossom

concocted on Mon, 23 Jul 2007 @ 7:49 pm for Eats

Cornetto Blackforest BlossomLook what I got from the supermarket.  Blackforest ice cream from Cornetto!

I’m not sure if this is new but I hadn’t spotted it before and when I did yesterday, I  was so excited that I kept pestering the man to hurry up with the purchases so that I can savour my new found dessert.

And as soon as the cashier scanned the box, I tore it opened and sunk my teeth in it!  The man was quite shocked that I was eating right in front of the cashier.  Hee.

It’s not bad really.  Taste like blackforest alright though a tad sweet.  Still, I’m happy with it and I’ll probably be snacking on this for awhile!

Utada Hikaru: Flavour of Life

concocted on Sat, 21 Jul 2007 @ 11:59 pm for Entertainment

Really happy to read that EMI is laying claim that Utada Hikaru’s “Flavour of Life”, which was released earlier this year is currently the world’s biggest selling digital single with sales of seven million units across all formats.

Hikki has always been my favourite Jpop artiste. She was the one who sang “First Love”, theme song for Majou No Juken starring Nanako Matsushima and “Can You Keep A Secret”, theme song for Hero starring my Takuya Kimura.

While Ayumi Hamasaki was always seen to be the one more popular, Hikki was the really the one with the talent. Just listen to her sing and discerning fans will know the difference. She has complete musical talents and a powerful vocal range to boot. And what makes her loveable is her breath of simplicity without ever having to try too hard.

I was in fact very mesmerised by Hikki and had featured her in my Jpop website years ago. There is something about her music that touches me in a way no other artistes can, even though I cannot understand the language.

Even listening to her sing “First Love” today can still get me greatly affected, 8 years after the song was released. And this current hit “Flavour of Life” is having the same effect. It’s no wonder it is doing so well.

I’m so glad that inspite of her recent divorce, the girl is shining brighter. Way to go Hikki!
