My four-year-old is getting talkative. Well, actually a bit more than talkative.
On dogs
I had asked him if he knew whether a dog has a backside. “No, dog got no backside. Dog got tail. ” Ah, then how the dog pass motion? He thought for awhile, then answered “On the floor ah!”
On passing urine
He doesn’t like to pass urine and always need to be reminded. ”Why must pass urine again? I already pass urine just now at McDonalds’ right?” Because you drank one big cup of water. “But I pass urine already just now.” Ya, but you still have urine right? ”No ah, I just pass urine just now.” And throughout that argument, he was in fact passing urine into the urinal.
On granny’s house
“I don’t want to go Ah Mah’s house.” Why? “No ah, I scared.” Why scared? We can play at Ah Mah’s house. “No ah. I don’t want to play at Ah Mah’s house. Can we just play at our house?”
On going out
“Where are we going mummy?” We’re going to Ikea. “Go Ikea do what?” Go Ikea to shop. “Then after that go where?” We go for lunch. “And after lunch, go where?” And he’ll continue to ask until he hears the word home.
On music
I requested to play the music in our room. “No ah, cannot ah, daddy one.” Why? Mummy can play too. “No ah, mummy cannot play. Daddy not in.” But daddy say can share. “No ah, daddy say cannot share.”
On homework
“I did this in the morning already.” Okay, that was writing. What about your Math? “No ah, I want to eat my lunch ah. I hungry.” At 4pm.
Sounds kind of fun now. But I doubt I’ll use the same word to describe our conversations in another few years’ time.

Oh, the talking and the questions. I’m here to tell you that it only gets worse. Sometimes I ask the girls to just shhh for a minute. I just need some quiet.
BBM: Haha…I haven’t come to that stage yet. We usually go in circles arguing instead…

i vividly remember that stage of jabbering and questioning. when i became impatient to my girls, i would answer “i don’t know.”
Belle: It’s the other way round. He’s the one who says he doesn’t know now. Maybe it’ll get to that stage later.

Zara hasn’t started the incessant questioning yet.
ZM: That’s right. You noticed! Zara will have her turn soon I guess…
