Gosh. I’ve never seen so many shoes crammed in a shop. They were literally piled treacherously on top of one another. All the shelves were full, and there were even shoes hanging from the top. We had to walk gingerly for fear of knocking off some of the shoes and didn’t even dare to try take one for fear that all would come tumbling down. And I never realised that a gamut of rubber soles can smell so toxic-ly horrible. It’s amazing that the shopkeeper and his assistants never turned purple from all that stench.
His friend had told him that the shops at Peninsula Plaza provide better discounts for a certain brand of running shoes. Ya. My foot.
Anyway, we didn’t leave empty handed. I managed to walk out with two pairs of flip flops. Not Havaianas but still, they’re cute and really, at $10 for two, the cheapo in me couldn’t possibly resist.

Not good anymore? It used to be one of my favourite place to get a new pair of trainers. A pair of Nike Air probably sold at 30% off the retail price then! What about Queensway?
DR: Don’t know. Maybe not for certain brands or designs. The man didn’t managed to get his Adidas there. He said there was no discount for that pair he wanted. So he just bought it from Adidas in the end.

I have been hearing a lot about Havaianas … what is the attraction there? Hehe …
Loong: I think one is the multitude of designs and the other the hype…quality wise, it is of course better than the norm but also cost more lah. The youngsters like my teens love it.

i don’t care for brand name shoes, slippers or even clothes because i am a cheapskate. as long as it looks good on me and it is comfortable, am good to go. $10 for 2 two flip plops? good buy, i must say.
Belle: Ya, design for me too.

Those are a huge load of shoes they’ve got there! kinda reminds me of HK’s Mongkok Street of shoes shops. I think can get rather good discounts and limited edition stuff there as well.
msff: Yes, yes, like some of HK’s shops. They also carry Crocs, Dr Martens and Birks but I looked really hard and didn’t find any Birks. Must have been buried somewhere and probably old designs.

Those flip-flops are cute..and at such a bargain, ‘kio tio’!!
Maybe not so much in this case, but occasionally, shops looking this one are where you can get rare finds at very good prices…places like MFF mentioned, HK’s Mongkok, & China.
DT: Ya, kio tio! Well, I suppose if I did dig around, there are good buys…but the smell…yucks!
