casserole of my life

Meme: Of where I want to go

concocted on Thu, 5 Apr 2007 @ 3:21 pm for Blogging

I’ve got another tag from Zara’s Mama and Doris last week, asking me where I would like to go.  Here’s my answer.

As a family, I would like us to go to Japan for the cherry blossoms, for the ramen, for the shrines, for the geishas, for Shibuya, for Disneyland, for Doraemon, as well as for my Takuya Kimura.

As a couple, I would like us to be able to re-visit Nepal all over again.  Perhaps trekking a different route and venturing closer to Mount Everest based camp this time.  But definitely going back to stay in Pokhara.

As an individual, I would like to visit Diqing Prefecture, the only Tibetan region in Yunnan, China, which is said to have striking similarity in terms of natural scenery and people’s way of living with what’s described as Shangrila in James Hilton’s well-known novel “Lost Horizon”, my favourite story.

Ladies, I know there’s a whole set of complicated rules in this tag but I’m certain you won’t mind that I’m not following them.

  1. I would love to visit Japan again too, preferably head up north to Hokkaido for ice-cream, onsens and wah, beer!!! Nepal seems to be out of reach for a long long time. Sigh.

DR: Got to do those adventurous and exotic trips before planning for the baby. That was my deal with the man.

  3. I’ve always wanted to go Japan…perhaps our next trip…but things there are so expensive leh…i must save enough first..hehe.. :P

Eileen: Yup, can be expensive but if you do a bit of planning and stay in those ryokans, maybe it’s not too bad. My friend travelled shoestring but of course, it was easier for her without a kid.

Japan totally rocks!! It’s one country I’ll never tire of. Have done Tokyo, Nagoya, Hokkaido and Osaka. Still would love to go back for more… *thumbs up*

  8. Great picks, sesame. And you’ve been to Nepal. Wow. I haven’t really travelled that much, err I mean, not at all. I guess I should have done that before starting a family. But then again, I was not into travelling when I was younger. Now, that I am getting older ;), I want to experience something new and I would like to travel. But it costs a lot. Maybe when I’m done raising the kids. :)

niceheart: It’s a matter of priorities actually. Some pple prefer to travel when they’re younger, some prefer to do it later. For me, we travelled quite a bit before our kid arrived and more importantly, went to those places we wanted to go, so even though we haven’t had a vacation for 4 years now, I don’t feel deprived.

  9. I’d love to do the French and Italian countryside. Maybe we can do it one day, when the kids are big enough to be left behind. Japan’s a fantastic destination, although not always kid-friendly. I just wish we saw more of the country while we lived there.

Hsin: It’s not kid-friendly? Hmmm…my friend told me it is. I suppose it depends on the locations…

  10. Aaaw.. lovely lovely..
And you did it differently.. !!

Hmm.. how come can’t go to Diqing as a couple?

ZM: Well, actually because my hubs didn’t quite like Tibet the last time we went so I’m not sure he’s keen on this location. But of course I would like him to come along…just that it’s my idea of a vacation and not our idea.
