The anniversary dinner

The man was busy the entire day and I thought we wouldn’t even have dinner together.  But dinner was clearly on his mind the whole time.  A Chinese dinner of Peking duck specifically.

We’ve passed by this eatery several times but it was only recently that we noticed that they’re serving Peking duck.  It’s downright Chinese alright…with a strange English name Bringing In Wine, a somewhat tacky decor, a rather familiar looking menu, to the unmistaken Beijing accent and boisterous Chinese nationals singing to the karaoke.  It was almost as if we were smack right within a restaurant in China.

Gavin didn’t like the restaurant that much initially but he warmed up to it, especially after food was served.  See what he’s eating?  The skin roll with cucumber only!

Bringing In Wine Restaurant & Bar is located at 943/945 Upper Serangoon Road.  Price is reasonable, food is above average and service is definitely much better than what you’ll get in mainland China.

By the way, this dinner has some significance for us.  Because Beijing was where it all started.  Climbing the Great Wall, clubbing at Hardrock and not forgetting how he managed to lug back 5 Peking ducks then!

  2. Ah… now we know where’s the start point of your journey. Peking duck is yummy. I won’t mind having that for my anniversay dinner too. Or perhaps black pepper crabs. :)

    DR: Black pepper crabs is nice, reserved for eating at home with the legs up.

  3. the peking duck looks yummy! Just like your boy, I take the skin roll, cucumber and duck skin with lots of sweet sauce in my portion.

    msfairface: You don’t eat the duck meat or skin? My boy ate like that only cos I didn’t want him to eat the meat.

    Talking about bejing roasted duck, I love it too. Then the left over meat, normally the chief will fried with noodle, but during our recent CNY dinner, we had tried it fried with black pepper & ginger! IT’s YUMMYlicious!

    wtpg: They fried the meat with spring onion but I didn’t eat it. Was too busy wrapping the skin.

  5. Peking duck is one of my fav too! But it’s been a long long while since i last tasted it! Now i know where to go to satisfy my taste buds…hehe… :)

    Eileen: But like I said to Jan, don’t expect high-class restaurant standard. But we enjoyed cos the whole setting and food did feel like China style. And the price is fair. Half a duck cost $14. Try their dumplings. Tasty.
