I’ve been busy these few days preparing for Chinese New Year. Well, just running around getting food and groceries for the reunion dinner mainly.
And it’s such a chore.
Last year we ate out and it was great. No need to create the shopping list. No need to buy the food. No need to jam up the freezer. It was so relaxing that we even have time for a bowling game afterwards. But this year we’ll have to be preparing dinner by 3pm or earlier and probably be kept busy till midnight.
Actually dinner was already booked but my in-laws wanted to eat in this year hence the trouble. Anyway, I’ll only be preparing the foodstuff for the steamboat. The man will still have to do the bulk of the cooking. On the menu are sharkfin’s soup and drunken prawns which I’ve specially requested.
And this is what I said to egg him on:
Since you don’t de-shell prawns for me anymore now, you must at least cook the prawns to feed me.

This year is the first time we are planning our own reunion dinner. Been wanting to get some abalone but cant seem to find!!! Luckily I prepared the pineapple tarts already. It’s well under grave danger; I’m trying not to finish it before CNY starts.
DR: You mean you made the pineapple tarts? Whoa. They’re my fave too and my brother usually make them for me. Lucky I still can resist them, just eating in small quantity.

I’m fascinated by your prep for this holiday. We don’t celebrate CNY here so it’s fun to learn about it via your posts. It sounds like you have things well in hand. Good for you.
ally: I’ll may post some pictures along the way and you can get a sense of how we celebrate.

Wow.. your hubby is such a good cook eh? Shark fin soup? And he used to deshell your prawns for you before marriage? Granted that he doesn’t do it anymore .. but still.. where did you find him?
Erika: In Singapore!
