Since his recovery from his recent illness, I’m totally BEWILDERED by his fine line between I’m okay, and I’m not okay.
He’ll look positively distress and say he’s NOT okay when:
- he’s reminded that he has to go to school.
- he’s asked to drink more water
- he’s told to eat his usual meals.
- he’s got to take his bath.
- he’s requested to take his nap.
He’ll be bright-eyed and say he’s PERFECTLY okay when:
- he wants to eat the fries.
- he wants to eat the ice-cream.
- he wants to eat the cake.
- he wants to have his ride.
- he wants to go swimming.
Well, I reckon his fine line is really between his obligations and wants?
Recently I called my mum and she mentioned that she was all alone at home. I knew that comment was not made to make me feel bad and only a mere reflection of her state. But somehow I felt sad after hearing that.
I really wish I can spend more time with her. I suppose I can if I really make an effort to, but so far, I’ve only kept to visiting her once a fortnight, for a couple of hours. And not that it’s always with enthusiasm. Sometimes I have to drag my feet over.
Is this how I’ve grown up to be? That I’m so caught up with the grinds of my daily living that I’ve forgotten my mother little by little by the day? That even spending time with her is but a chore to me?
But not my mum. She gave me a box of these jellies she made over the week before I left her house this morning. She remembers they’re my favourite. And she made more, so that she can share them with me.

Cannot resist sharing this here even though I’ve got it covered at viva woman since this is such a good find.
Chemical-free and natural lip balms made with natural butters, oils and beewax with choices of over 400 flavours from My Lip Stuff! I’ve placed order for the Pick Your Own 6 Pack and each 0.15oz twist tube lip balm cost me only S$5 even with shipping in. Irresistible? You bet!
And they’ve so many fun editions, even one for the upcoming Chinese New Year! You can even request for personalized or customized labels. Too cool!
I have received a few enquiries about where I get my graphics for my headers. Well, they are self-created using Adobe Illustrator CS. However, I must clarify that most of the time, I get my inspirations by checking out all sorts of design and illo websites.
For example, my recent find is ArtbyChristel.com which has a lot of contemporary acrylic paintings with a lot of 50’s and 60’s motifs. These are her handpainted work.

Gorgeous work isn’t it? These are the sort of art I like to ogle at and the sort which I will like to use for my blog design. Of course my digital art is not up to standard yet, so I need to improve a lot more. I won’t copy, but I’ll use some of the ideas gathered and marry it with my own creations.
I’ll however need to wait till my next big break to have time for this. For now, I will just ogle and bookmark the site for future reference.
I was telling my mum that Gavin is too child-like and she was amused. “He’s a child so of course he’s child-like.”
True, but what I meant is that he doesn’t seem as matured compared to kids around his age and sometimes that gets me worried.
But one thing I cannot complain about is his observation skills:
Points to a dress I’m wearing and said, not nice, Mummy go change!
Points to a top I’m wearing and said, same, same with Auntie. Mummy is Auntie!
Points to a mole on my face and said, eeeeew, Mummy must wash face!
