casserole of my life

He needs hair extension

concocted on Sat, 20 Jan 2007 @ 7:00 pm for Parenting

When he caught sight of how short his hair had become after it was done, he looked away from the mirror immediately and tears welled up in his eyes.  A second later, he was bawling and struggling to get out of the chair.  He even tried to grab some of his hair which have dropped on the floor and wanted them back on his head!

Gosh, I felt awfully bad that instant.

I had told the hairdresser at Junior League to cut his hair short, but never did I expect her to cut it THIS short!  By the time I realised, it was already too late.  But still, I thought nothing of it until I saw how distraught the boy had become.

His dad quickly paid up, brought him out of the salon and tried to pacify him by showing him toys at the department store.  He stopped wailing, but he was still upset and didn’t forget to touch the back of his hair ever so often.  He also did not accept our patronising compliments about his new look.

“No, not handsome!”
“I angry!”
“I not happy!”

At home, he requested to look at the mirror after taking his bath.  When he saw his reflection, he smiled and said, “like cactus like that.”

Looks like my son has inherited our sense of humour and IQ spirit.

  1. Ahhhhhh! Sesame, when I took a glance at Gavin’s pic, I feel so sad for him leh! Think it’s really a bit too short ;-(

The hair stylist must be mad to trim it so extreme. No wonder poor Gavin is upset. Cz’Aunty SSSF also feel bad for him. Stupidoooo hair stylist !

Hey, if he doesn’t fidget, can try those adult salons instead. After all the bad hair cuts for Nutty at children’s salons, I have banned them all and switch to adult salons instead.

Cz’ when my gal has a bad hair cut, my mood gets totally ruined as well.

If u stay near the East, I recommend Rose, the stylist at Team Salon, Parkway. Charge is $20 for children. She is very patient and gentle with children. And her cut is good.

Tell Gavin boy his hair will grow back fast, so not to worry, okie? Children these days are smart, they get upset too with bad hair cut ;-)

SSF: His hair was cut at Junior League at Parkway!  This is the 2nd time, the last time was quite well done.  Usually they know that his hair is a bit thin, cannot cut until so short.  That’s why I always tell them the same thing, short slope, but didn’t expect so short and so layered!  I think that hairdresser was a bit over enthusiastic.   Hiaz…Thanks for the recommendation.  He does figet a little that’s why I bring him to these kids’ salon cos got amusement like TV, toys etc. But next time I go PW, I’ll check out Team too and if it’s suitable, I’ll bring him there.

I didn’t think that children haircut in Singapore were so expensive. Over here.. they feel bad to charge anything.

MB: Here, they’ll make money out of everyone, young or old.  And like that still handsome ah?  Okay, I tell him…but don’t know he’ll accept or not…

  4. The stylist at Junior League, does she looks like a ” he”? Cz’ the last visit, Nutty was confused with this hair stylist who looked like an uncle when she was apparently a he! And the cut…well….I have to admit, was more than terrible ;-(

Here is the number for Team Salon 6440 6592. Good to check if Rose is around before heading down ;-) I am not sure about the rest of the stylists, but this particular lady, I like ;-) She has a heart for children!

SSF: No, the one that cut his hair is definitely an auntie. with long hair.

I can understand how bad you felt, especially when he tried to take the hair on the floor and put back onto his head……I felt so bad just reading it.

although short hor but he still looks ok lar, just needs a while for him to get used to his new look lar…..

Jan: Lucky he doesn’t get to see the mirror too frequently.  But anyway, he’s already over it.

  9. He really tried to pick up some of his hair and put back his head??!

Cannot imagine nowaday children’s pride develope at such early stage. Remember during my childhood, my mum always asked the barber to cut my head “eng-ki tow” and my brothers’ hair style like gavin current style too and we also “accept it” :p

Hm.. u remind us not to take for-granted our children age and cannot have the mentality that ” ai-yah, children know what? They wont be bother…”

But Gavin is still handsome & cute lah… I esp like his reaction,
    “No, not handsome!”
    “I angry!”
    “I not happy!”

    Got character wow… kekeke

And handsome, Wish u fastest receovery!

wtpg: Exactly!  They’re so sensitive these days at such a young age.  I was shock.  Last time, we all really gong gong neh.  You also captured what I felt…must not take our kid’s feelings for granted and dismiss them as kids only!  As for what he said, I tell you we were sooo amused becos he never used the word angry before this.

    DR: Scary right?

  11. he’s still cute, anyway. but of course a bad hair day is a bad hair day, even for kids. the good thing is that hair always grows back.

sexy mom: That’s true.  In fact, he already looks better now.
