casserole of my life

Handpainted contemporary art

concocted on Fri, 12 Jan 2007 @ 4:40 pm for Arts&Crafts

I have received a few enquiries about where I get my graphics for my headers.  Well, they are self-created using Adobe Illustrator CS.  However, I must clarify that most of the time, I get my inspirations by checking out all sorts of design and illo websites.

For example, my recent find is ArtbyChristel.com which has a lot of contemporary acrylic paintings with a lot of 50’s and 60’s motifs.  These are her handpainted work.

Gorgeous work isn’t it?  These are the sort of art I like to ogle at and the sort which I will like to use for my blog design.  Of course my digital art is not up to standard yet, so I need to improve a lot more.   I won’t copy, but I’ll use some of the ideas gathered and marry it with my own creations.

I’ll however need to wait till my next big break to have time for this.  For now, I will just ogle and bookmark the site for future reference.

  1. It is gorgeous art. I have no ability in that direction, and am always in awe of those that do. Thanks for the link.

    ally: You’re welcome!

  2. Just wondering if you use a tablet at all with Illustrator. I have been wanting to get one for fun … any recommendations?

Loong: I am still using the mouse!!! Have not bought the tablet so cannot recommend one yet.  Will let you know if I get one.

  3. I think you are already doing very well with the Adobe illustrator. I don’t think I can ever draw like that on a pc. :P

ZM: Thanks for thinking so well…but still got a long way to go!

  4. I admire people like you who can draw and paint, whatever medium you use. Because I can’t draw anything, except for stick figures. :)
