Splendid morning @ Singapore Expo

Penguin warehouse sales

Lots and lots are happening at the Singapore Expo this weekend!  We headed down that way because I saw an ad on the Asian Children’s Festival yesterday and suggested it since we had no where else to go.  And guess what?  Books galore!  The Penguin warehouse sale is smack right there!   I was hyperventilating and in a state of frenzy!

There was such a huge selection of books!  Fictions, non-fictions, childrens’ and even some assessment books going from $1 onwards.  More choices and bargains than Doulos for sure!

The first thing I did was to rampage through the children’s section and grabbed books for Gavin.  Then I took some time to browse through the novels.  I only ended up with a Joseph Heller’s and a Sue Townsend’s but still, I left the warehouse a very satisified mother!

As for the Asian Children’s Festival which was actually the event that brought us to the Expo, it was such a yawn.  Fortunately, Gavin and daddy had some fun driving around at the Road Safety Community Park organised by Shell next door.  The boy almost refused to go home with us after that.

All three of us had such a splendid time at the Expo.  I certainly hadn’t expect us to stumble upon these pleasant finds in just one morning.  Talk about being at the right place at the right time!

* The Penguin sale is at Hall 6-B from 10am to 10pm and ends tomorrow.

  1. It is really nice to be able to do so many things in singapore… and activities that are great for kids. Unfortunately, over where i am right now..there isn’t much. Once a year.. .there is a so call exhibition.. which is like our pasar malam expo.. in singapore.. and that is considered a grand affair here… *slap forehead*.. so you can imagine my frustration.. and worriedness for Chloe.. for she would not be exposed to anything beyond this small town can offer. In alot of ways.. i wanna go back to singapore.. but because of our family ties here..in Canada.. it is very hard.. and almost not fair to Chloe’s grandparents. On the other hand.. i do not have much ties with my family in singapore.. therefore.. it would be the “right” thing to do to stay here in small yarmouth.. but like i said.. i’m worried.. that chloe will not be given the full advantage.. of learning.. and absorbing all the wonderful things a big city .. can offer.

MBThat’s tough…well, maybe wait till Chloe is older and you may like to rethink your options again.

niceheart: We’re the same!  I am even happy just browsing.  But that sale was too good to leave empty handed.

  6. i was there yesterday too..but in the late afternoon! ended up buying so many books! one of the better sales of the year i must say!

AngeliaYou were there too?  Very good right?  I was so happy to be there cos I didn’t know it was going on…and I didn’t check my purchase carefully cos I was so overwhelmed and bought back one or two duplicated copies.

  7. I was also there yesterday. Had lunch at Baba King - poor thing this peranakan eatery - the food is not bad but not well patronised i think because you can’t see it as it faces inwards and located near one of the more ulu halls. Another eatery we go to regularly at the expo is the tandoori restaurant - yummy and not expensive. The penguin sale was my last stop so by then quite tired so only grabbed a few activity books for the kids.

fuzzooYa, I think the eateries don’t do so well…probably cos most pple are busy looking around and just want a quick bite.  Also, there was a food expo so maybe pple went for free food too.
