I’ve developed an interest into left brain and right brain analysis for work as well as for Gavin’s learning. It’s rather intriguing.
The brain is composed of two hemispheres, known as the left and right hemisphere. While each hemisphere has unique functions, which one side performs and the other does not, both hemispheres possess the ability to analyze sensory data, perform memory functions, learn new information, form thoughts, and make decisions.
Left brain thinks in black and white mode and focuses on analyticals. It is responsible for dealing with hard facts such as structure, details, discipline, rules, time sequences, categorizing, logic, rationality, deductive reasoning, etc. You know, the mundane but necessary stuff of life.
Right brain on the other hand thinks in colours and focuses on creativity. It is responsible for intuition, feelings, sensitivity, emotions, daydreaming, visualizing, risk taking, etc. The more interesting aspects of life thank you very much.
Some people are lucky to have a balanced brain (or no brain) while for the rest of us, one side is usually more dominant. This of course has implications on our abilities, our talents, our careers and ultimately our social relationships.

Think about how you fell in love or when you were choosing your partner or spouse. How did you choose? Did you have pre-requisites? Or are you the sort who goes with your feelings?
I am definitely more right brain when it comes to love. I’m not rational at all and I don’t set criterias. I go for that vague thing call chemistry. If I didn’t even like the guy at first impression, I wouldn’t go out with him even if he was today’s version of ubersexual with loads of money.
I found it difficult then, to understand why some of my girlfriends would go out with men whom they’re not too keen on. Usually the justifications were that the guy was not bad and it helped of course if he was well-to-do or had good potentials. They, on the other hand, didn’t understand why I refused to go out with the so-called suitable lads but rather stay at home with my doggie.
Now I know it’s probably due to our brain differences. That these ladies are likely more left brain oriented. Thinking in terms of stability and goals. While I was cruising along based on my emotions because I am more right brain inclined.
Looking at it simplistically, this may explain why a right brainer would be bored to tears with a left brainer and a left brainer being frustrated with a predominantly right brain partner. But there again, for some, the saying opposites attract holds truth.
So…are you more left brain or right brain in love?
Guess who is this baby? It’s Gavin of course! At 5 months old, right after shaving his head of hair. This is my favourite pic and I have it hung up on the wall of my room.
I’ve decided to post this up because I came across this baby site Rate My Baby Pics. Since he’s obviously past the age, I am unable to submit his picture. The next best place is to post it here.
Doesn’t he look chubby? We used to nickname him “Bubu” and had to keep people from pinching his cheeks because of the old wives’ tale that it would cause the baby to drool non-stop.
Ah…those were the days of constant milk feeding, after feed burping and almost-non-stop diaper changing.
Well, for those with a baby, or are going to have a baby soon, you might want to check out the cute baby pics site. Show off your little prince or princess to the global community. Otherwise, find informative articles or even network with other parents on their parenting, pregnancy and baby forum if you like.
In fact, as soon as I visited the site, I understood why their members are saying that the site is even more addicting than watching American Idol. They have this daily feature of babies and some are sooOoo cute! They even have categories like crazy hair and chubbiest cheeks.
Mostly from States no doubt, but who is to say Asian babies cannot be as, or more adorable?
Heh. I’m in the mood for shopping. Yessiree…

I didn’t realise today is the official opening of Vivo City and there were throngs of people on this hazy Thursday afternoon. But without the boy, I managed to walk quite a bit and found many new stores and interesting lines of clothes. Even the Tangs store is different. I say if they have Kinokuniya bookstore and Vitakiz too, I’ll never need to visit Orchard Road again.
A small loot for me in 2 hours. Must start earlier in the morning next time!

I couldn’t resist snapping a shot of these shoes I saw just now. Gosh, they’re truly art pieces with their interesting embroidered insoles! From pop art designs, Chinese propaganda elements to contemporary techno art. Very quirky and totally cool for exhibit!
However, lovely as they are from nue, but my interest in acquiring them was thoroughly lost in that retail space. As soon as the sales assistant spotted me snapping the picture, she quickly ran over to stop me. Ouch. Surely a picture won’t hurt right? Like, what can I steal by snapping a pix? But she couldn’t prevent me when I walked over to another corner and took more pix. Heehee…
I think these shoes look great for festivities like Lunar New Year. Plus having a pair of these for visiting means mine will definitely stand out in a heap of plain looking shoes. Going to check these out again another time. And…at another place.

I’ve been doing a fair bit of research and writing for my friend San and am really fascinated with the many websites on handcrafted jewelries. For example this B.Dina jewelry with really gorgeous pieces made by five independent jewelry artists. Look at the Flower Ring! Isn’t it pretty? I can just see myself wearing this!
What I like about their designs is that the pieces are simple and refreshing, which means I can wear them on most occasions and for some pieces, even to work. Like their Feminine Thematic series range of necklaces. Totally clean and chic!
Besides some of the earrings set in fresh water pearls, many of their jewelries are designed in sterling silver and semi-precious gemstones like amber, amethyst, garnet, moonstone, opal and turquoise. A few unique pieces, like their wedding bands and Keum-Boo necklaces, are crafted in 18K or 24K gold. Prices start from $35 and free shipping is offered for orders over $100.
Heheh. X’mas is coming isn’t it?
