casserole of my life

What a pain

concocted on Sun, 8 Oct 2006 @ 6:27 pm for Femina

ElitaI was enjoying my daily dose of entertainment at Asianbite and this picture of Elita Loresca who was voted as USA’s sexiest newscaster caught my eye.

Never mind who she is.  Just look at her humongous boobs.  Maybe being a woman, I cannot appreciate them as much as a man.  The first thought that crossed my mind when I saw them was “ouch, won’t those boobs hurt badly if they were sent for a mammography?”

What a morbid thought right?

But really, because mammography requires the breast to be compressed to even out its thickness, the bigger the breast is, the more pressure is applied and the more it hurts.

And exactly how painful is the process?

Ask me.  I know through first-hand experience because I had my first mammography done at the age of 35.   The gynae whom I consulted at that time for a Pap smear said she felt a slight lump after groping at my boobs and immediately ordered me to do a mammography. Then, I was still a buxomy C-cup, before Gavin zapped away half the fats from my breasts.

Nothing harmful was detected of course but the entire X-ray was unnerving.  Not only did I have to worry about the outcome, I had to endure the extremely uncomfortable procedure where my breasts were being pressed against a platform on the mammogram machine by a plate.

I remember then that one of my breasts did not hurt as much even though it was pressed, flattened and squeezed by the plate.  The other, probably because it was slightly bigger, hurt so much that I was in tears especially because they had to retake the X-ray after a failed attempt.  So it was pressed, flattened, squeezed; not once, but twice!

And you tell me, what is my C-cup compared to Elita’s XXX-cup?  Imagine how much more pain she’ll experience to have hers pressed, flattened, squeezed much harder because of the size?

So flat-chested ladies, take heart.  Big breasts are a pain.  Literally.

  1. Ouch! That does sound real painful. Another thing good about being slightly more flat-chested is that they do not bounce too much while I’m jogging. :)

  12. I haven’t had one yet. Thanks for sharing. And I thought it would hurt more for the smaller breasts.

niceheart I suppose it’s because of the greater pressure they need to assert.  But then again, smaller breasts can hurt too if the pressure is too much…
