Hi Sesame,
Thanks for your reply. I totally understand your reluctance to be photographed. Unfortunately, the story requires a photo to go along with it. I’d like to request your re-consider. It will be a fun experience, I promise. Let me know? Thanks!
Mary
Hi Mary,
I have no doubts that the photography session will be fun. In fact I imagine the photograph could turn out quite well because I’ve been told that I’m quite a natural poser and am rather photogenic.
But I anticipate I’ll have to live with some unwanted scrutiny afterwards, considering the wide circulation of your publication. I might even have to change the focus of my blog or shut it down altogether. Moreover, as a wife and mother, I also need to consider the potential backlash to my family such an exposure could bring.
So still, after careful re-consideration, I don’t want to trade my long-term bliss for some short-term fun.
Unless unless it’s a photograph of my feet. That’s still a part of me no less and it’s prettier than my face.
Well, if not, it’s definitely a no go.
Once again, thank you for your email and all the best to your article.
Cheers,
Sesame

Hehehe!! what a cool reply.. !

Yeah, a pic of your feet, complete with nail art would be nice… and I don’t mean nicer than your face hor! I do not see why a headshot of your face is required if what they truly want to share with their readers is a meaningful blog. If they want ‘faces’, there are lots of eager beavers out there!
DR: Or an illo huh? But I suppose this is how the media works. Must be real faces…

Er… my reply kenna-ed spammed?
Yup, but now unspammed. I do check so…

You really like your feet.
And you should. They’re very pretty.
niceheart: I have foot fetish - of my own and my son’s.

your toes would be lovely!!! but the whole point of a blog sometimes is to retain that anonymity!!! heh.
imp: Yup, for pple like us. And the focus on blogging as a written topic has to deviate from the norm really...

first of all, congrats!! your blog is indeed fit 2b published in a mag. the contents are interesting, and you’re very articulate and intellectual.
but then again, as for the privacy thingy, u do post photos of gavin right? exposure wise, u already “publicize” him in yr blog mah.
Evan: Haha…I don’t mind posting pix of Gavin cos he’s always growing and in time will not be recognisable. In fact I have also posted some pictures of myself too. Once or twice. What I feel is that within my own blog, I can control the amount of exposure and if people stumble upon it and read, so be it. Most of these don’t know me personally anyway and they’re likely more interested in reading what I write, not stalking my life.
It’s some of the people I know in real life that I guard against (like the ex-ex-ex). The odds of them coming to this blog is very low and even if they do, they won’t know it’s mine especially since they haven’t seen my son or know I have a son. But if my pix get published in a mag and these people happen to read the mag which is widely available, then they’ll surely come by to check out and stalk me online.

I totally agree with domestic rat. If they want to feature faces, there are lots of eager bloggers out there for them to interview but maybe they can’t write as good as u
Ashes: You see me too up lah girl…Lots of them out there are prettier, more talented and can also write. But like I say hor, if the publicity can make me a 女作家, then I will surely 豁出去.

Hey…. the fact is, you are good
Regardless of whether or not you accept their interview. I mean, I am sure the editor must have been attracted to your style of writing, that’s why she chose to select you out of the rest.
Most important, you still have your own circle of ardent fan readers like us to support you.
Jia you, Sesame !
SSF: Hey, thanks for your compliments. I think within our circle, we have very good writers, you included. So we should encourage one another. JIA YOU!

juz wanna ask, hv u been stalked b4? or anything unpleasant happened that caused u to guard yr privacy so fiercely? for me, i don’t mind ppl stalking me online, as long as they don’t know where i live. and having a food blog is pretty safe coz i don’t publicize my life, what i do, what i eat, what my hubby does etc etc. but there are a few online ppl who keeps on pressurizing me to meet them. in fact they get on my nerves but there’s nothing much they can do if i don’t turn up.
Evan: There was once a mother in Gavin’s school who came up to talk to me and the way she talked, I was surprised she seem to know quite a bit about him. I’m the sort who is very low profile and hardly talk to the other mothers in the school. I was guessing then that she might have come across my blog but I’m not sure and of course I won’t ask. And I suspected that she was trailing me in her car after I went to pick him up after school once cos she was driving right behind me and I know she normally uses another route. I felt uneasy of course but something that I dismissed as being too paranoid. But even if she really reads my blog, I’m okay cos I don’t know her personally.
I really mind people I know, especially from my past reading my blog. Let’s just say there were a handful of unpleasant characters then. And due to what I do now, I meet too many people and that’s why I also mind them reading my blog cos of image issue and this means I cannot freely express myself if I know they come in here. Probably it all sounds very strange to you especially since I write a fair bit about the ongoings of my life, yet I sound so paranoid. But as a matter of fact, there are many bloggers like me around. I suppose we just prefer to separate our online life from our offline life.

Ditto on what DR has said.
I like your suggestion on featuring your toes instead.
DT: Good idea right?

i totally understand what you’re saying. actually there’s no such thing as right or wrong here. everyone’s entitled to their opinions, and to think and do what they want, as long as their actions do not cause hurt or pain to others. nobody has the right to tell u that u cant do this or that. so, continue 2b yourself! its good that u r standing by yr own principles and not letting others tell u what to do. if your loved ones love u, they’ll understand why u r doing this. as for criticisms from ppl who don’t even know u (if there’s any), tell them to F off!
Evan: *peace sign*

Who needs to be in a mag anyway? You’ve got a sizeable following here already!
Frankly, if the mag was up to scratch, they’d appreciate the need for privacy, and feature your blog without the photo. Readers can understand that, so they should.
Hsin: Oh well, never mind…it’s their loss.
