casserole of my life

Dance Dance Dance

concocted on Wed, 6 Sep 2006 @ 4:00 am for Blogging, Entertainment, Introspections

I’ve got a revelation.   At 4am in the morning.   On why I need to blog almost daily.

It’s got to do with the Murakami book I’ve just finished.   It’s got to do with dance.

You gotta dance.  As long as the music plays.  You gotta dance.  Don’t even think why.  Start to think, your feet stop.  Your feet stop, we get stuck.  We get stuck, you’re stuck.  So don’t pay any mind, no matter how dumb.  You gotta keep the step.  You gotta limber up.  You gotta loosen what you bolted down.  You gotta use all you got.

Dance, the sheep man said.  Dance in tip-top form.  Dance so it all keeps spinning.

Dance. Keep in step, light but steady.  Freshen up, maintain the rhythm, keep things going.  I had to pay careful attention where this was leading me to the next.  Had to make sure I stayed in this world.

Now I know.

No matter how mundane.  No matter how insipid.  No matter how frivolous.

Blogging is my dance.  Dancing is my game.

To stay focus.  To stay connected.  To keep it going.

To make sure I’m living in this world.

When the dance stops, the spin halts, the mind blanks.

I know that feeling.

To eat, but not taste.  To breathe, but not live.  To cry without tears.

  4. I think it’s quite an irony. When you are up to your ears busy with work, busy with life, busy with everything, you wish for everything, anything to stop right there so you can breathe. Yet when everything comes to a standstill, we despise the inertia and wish for momentum to kickstart the idle engine.

  5. great analogy between blogging and dancing. both require a sense of rhythm and good vibrations to keep going. i like your 4 a.m. thinking.
