Suz Handmade Jewelleries

concocted on Mon, 14 Aug 2006 @ 2:15 am for Femilicious

Lookie!  Gorgeously handcrafted jewelleries made by my good friend San.  This is the first time I’m seeing her designs and I must say I’m very impressed.  I only wished my camera could do more justice to her handiwork.

My friend has a very fine eye for details and most of her pieces are rather interesting.  They’re not the usual faux baubles because these are all semi-precious stones set in sterling silver or 14K gold-filled chains.  In fact, she was beating herself up for not bringing her more expensive range to show me.  Haha.

Anyway, she has started selling a small quantity through word-of-mouth.  However, her plans are to eventually create her own e-commerce website especially to target overseas customers whom she feels will be more willing to pay for the high-end pieces.  So I introduced her to Etsy, an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade and hopefully she can kickstart her venture from there.

The name for her jewellery line hasn’t been decided yet.  But because she’s putting up a stall at the upcoming NUS bazaar next week, she’s going with the name “Suz” for the time being.

We spent the afternoon yesterday at my place discussing some display ideas for her stall and I even helped her do up a simple desktop standee based on “Suz Handmade Jewelleries”.  Familiar looking isn’t it?  Heehee.

I think going by the look of it, I won’t be surprised to find myself eventually writing up for her line of jewellery if she really goes into full swing.  Well, we’ll see.

For now, I’m happy that my friend is trying her hands at carving a niche for herself and doing something she enjoys.  And of course, I’ll stand to benefit by getting some free pieces lah.  Heheh.

Jan: Yes, high time to doll up when you have more time on hand.  Start small first…like doll up the hair, or ears…

  6. Does she customise orders for customers?

DR: Sure she can.  You just need to specify or show her what you like.  If you’re interested, then I’ll share her email with you privately.  Or better still, talk to her over the phone if you’re back home.

  8. Those are pretty jewellery! Yes, ecommerce may be the way to go. Many known jewellers started their biz that way.

earthember: The only problem is that she’s not IT savvy.  Otherwise, she could experiment on her own instead of relying on outside help.

  9. [...] Since the last time I featured her jewelries, San has been busy with many more new designs.  She has also taken up my suggestion to launch her line of handmade jewelries under the name Sanz.  And like I said previously, they’re not the usual faux baubles because these are all semi-precious stones like amethyst, garnet, turquoise, topaz, moonstone, peridot, opal, etc set in 925 silver or 14K gold-filled chains.  [...]
