casserole of my life

Peekaboo toes

concocted on Fri, 11 Aug 2006 @ 12:36 pm for Femilicious

Okay, I had originally planned to solicit for opinions about this pair of shoes.  If it is professional looking enough with a suit.  But after thinking through, I decided against it since I know I’m still going to wear it despite the answers.  Simply because, I haven’t got any other choices.

No, these aren’t comfortable but at least, not all my toes would be crammed up into the small toe box like THAT damn pair of court shoes I wore previously.  I know having my toes properly concealed speaks volume of my professionalism but I don’t want to kill my big toe nails everytime I wear court shoes.  At least in these, those nails will survive.  So I don’t care this time.  I’m so gonna deviate.

But I still have a nudging feeling that something isn’t quite right here.  I think the look isn’t prudish enough.  Is it the nail colour?  I need them in lighter shades don’t I?  OR do I even have to wear a pair of stockings to conceal my toes altogether?

  1. Heehee… in my humble opinion, I think your nails are too bright for office. Would suggest you to tone down to neutral shades or those shimmering pinks, bronze, mauve. And please skip those hosiery!

DR: So really the colour huh?  Heehee.  But I like them leh cos my fair feet looks better in these shades than those neutral ones.  Okay, okay, must consider toning down for shoes sake!  Maybe silver?

  2. I think it’s your toe nails color too. With black, I’ll rather have it either brown or a nude color..

personally, i hate court shoes! thankfully, i can wear open toe high heels sandals to work :P

Angelia: Yeah, I hate court shoes too!  Usually open toes but sometimes no choice lah.  Brown?  Sometimes I use that shade.  Maybe I’ll try that. Nude could be weird for me.

  3. Me think that is a very nice pair of shoes you have…:)

Yup, i suppose the nail colors are too bright, dark brown or a darker shade of red will be better? hee :)

Eileen: Nice ah?  But not comfortable lor.

  4. The shoe is prim and proper (oh boy, when did I last wear something like this?).. yeah, I think the nail colours need to be more subtle. :P

ZMWhat about when you do go to the office?  Or your office promotes smart casual?  In some of the other place I work, I can even wear my Birks if I want.  Haha.

  5. Like DR, I think the colour is a bit too strong. Hehe … and maybe a bit too much heel in there? Maybe just me.

Loong: I don’t like flats unless it’s sandals.  Must have heels for nicer posture…

  6. wow are your toes always so immaculately painted?? u paint your toes like every day? the colors look so fresh w/o any chip lol. ya i think stockings are a no-no too. nowadays where got ppl wear stockings one, unless u wanna look like china woman. they’re famous for their knee-high ones haha. light colors are nice, depends on what kind of shoes u wear. dark polish are more suitable for dressy sandals ie. those strappy ones with diamantes IMHO.

Evan: Haha. No way I wanna look like China woman!  I was just joking about the stockings lah.   But I do have friends doing that hor.  And my toe nails?  Not everyday but every week.  Cos next to my face and hair, this is the other asset I take care of.  I just feel funny going out when my nails aren’t done properly.  But surprisingly, I can’t be bothered with my finger nails.

  7. i like the shoe style very much. i think that a pale pink on the toes would look good. subtle, but refined. that’s you, right?

    ally: Me refined.  Haha.

  8. I think it looks very professional, even the colour. Hey but that’s just me. Nice toes by the way. Like you, I also do my toenails more than my fingernails. :)

niceheart: You too?  My reason is cos I find the nail colours don’t last on fingernails and it’s such a waste.  And I also don’t like keeping my fingernails longs especially when I have to come into contact with my child so often.

  9. My opinion, think you may want to use another shade of red instead of the shimmering red u applied. Maybe the outcome will be better. :)

Ashes: Hmmm…I think I’ll try the Russian To A Party.  That colour is darker, closer to brown.  I don’t like light shades.  Not nice on my feet lah.

  10. I think your toes, color and shoes look just fine..! i love it.. :) not too formal but formal enough and nice.. :)
    I love your nail colors..!!

MB: Hey thanks!  I didn’t quite like the color initially but it grew on me…now I like it too.

  11. I thought these days, such shoes are considered quite professional already? No ah? I agree with others.. mebbe change the color of the nails?

Erika: I suppose so but to some pple, showing even a bit of toes is waving the wrong flag in the corporate world.  *sigh*

  12. Just by looking at the picture I think you look all right. But that really depends on what you wear. You reckon?

MS: It’ll be a formal suit.

  13. Nail colour. Definitely the nail colour. Gotta tone it down a few notches.

And NOOOOOOOOO, no stocks over exposed toes!!!!!!!! *holding up my two index fingers to make a cross like a vampire killer facing a vampire* NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! If you don’t change the nail colour, then go with it as is. No stockings over exposed toes!!!!

Hsin: Wahahahaha…okay okay I got it.  I got it!  I was just joking about the stockings lah.  No way I’ll wear stockings like that.  But I have friends who do that and I wish I can honestly tell them that it’s so ’salah’.

  14. i guess if your company is not so strict on dress code and it’s ok with your job profile/title, then u can paint any nail color u like. personally i’ve always like darker tones like brownish-red or cherry-red which gives a more sophiscated look, and matches well with black clothes. :-)

dreamy princess: I tend to vary my colours every week or so and I do it out of fancy, not so much to match what I wear.  Also cos formal wear for me is like about once or twice a month at most.  But I need to remember that if I want to wear this pair of shoes, I need to match the nail colours.

  15. Yah! Everything is nice except the shocking red enamel, partial exposed from the solid black court shoe… quite a big contrast. Most probably an humble enamel colour goes better with this shoe.

wtpg: Haha…humble doesn’t suit me.  I like it loud and strong!  Okay, this colour is definitely too bright.  I’ll need to go for a very dark red, something close to brown.

  16. I prefer open-toe shoes too, esp in Singapore’s heat, and yes, if you don’t want to ruin your nail polish.

I would prefer a darker nail tone, like black or dark red, more gothic - yeah, what I’m known for.

earthember:Gothic?  Hey, I like that kind of colours too.
