Tanjong Rhu Pau

Tanjong Rhu Pau

Heheh.  I’ve been snacking again!

This time it is the Tanjong Rhu mini char siew buns at Blk 7, Jalan Batu off Kampong Arang.  Because they’re half the size of the usual buns, I could almost pop one entire bun into my mouth.   But I didn’t.  I wanted to take my time to savour the soft, fluffy buns with the succulent char siew bites.  Hmmm…YUMMY!

While enjoying my buns, I also got to watch the “pau men” in action, busily kneading dough for the buns and filling it up with ingredients.   These men do have amazing nimble fingers!

Those interested to try these may like to know that apart from the mini char siew buns, the stall also sells mini buns in red bean paste and lotus bean paste versions, all going at 50 cents each.   Their normal-sized buns are also pretty delicious.

  3. I’ve tried their fabulous paus. Although I’m high on char siew paus, I find that their ling yong pau is absolutely deliciously wonderful. Did you try that?

Yah, carbs, I know, each time one eats, it has to be two at a go. Sigh…

  9. Ashes: Fly to HK for char siew bao? Wa kow! Must be very good. But there are some teahouses here with very nice char siew baos too.

MB: Can you get the frozen sort at the supermarkets? Some are not too bad.

MS: I think I might have tried their ling yong bao sometime ago but didn’t like it that much. The red bean is good though.

Erika: It’s yummy on the inside. But didn’t take pictures cos busy eating them already!

DR & Eileen: I ate them with their skin on. I’m usually too engrossed with eating them I don’t bother with removing. But for my son, I will remove the skin.

Jan: Hehehe…that’s the idea lah.

ZM: Never tried those at Ding Tai Foong’s so cannot comment.
