I had a pot of steaming hot century egg congee.

Nah, I didn’t cook this. Someone at the nice air-conditioned Hong Kong cafe cooked it for me. All I had to do was eat and pay $6.90 at the counter.

Actually, I almost had the cafe made me a delicious looking nutritious crab congee but after I realised that it comes at a whopping special price of $29.90, I quietly settled for just an eye feast on the crab congee picture.

Maybe they’ll charge me $9.90 if I bring my own crab next time huh?

  5. yum! looks so creamy and good. I can never cook congee because I don’t have the patience to stand at the stove, to watch and stir. I always end up with “chao tar” porridge… and spill-over congee on the stove. :(

  9. isn’t 6.90 a little expensive for century egg nia?? kekeke….but as long as you like it can liao!!! but I am lousy at eating congee leh….take very long, probably slower than my kids ah….kekekeke

  10. Since my Mum’s Cantonese and Dad’s Teochew, I almost always had congee or Teochew porridge at home everyday. So congee in hot ar cold weather suits me fine.

    Haha..your last sentence, that’s what i always tell hubby: ‘next time we bring our own *insert ingredients*, then maybe they’ll charge us cheaper..’ :)

  12. Actually I wanted some ice-cream but the picture of the congee on the menu looked very yummy so decided to order that instead. People, I’ll be insane if I hadn’t eaten it under the air-con.  Anyway, I also had an ice cold lycee tea drink to go with it.

    It’s ex considering it wasn’t as large as what it looked. Oh well, I don’t eat this everyday…

    And yes, the price of the crab congee is :shock:

    Erika: Think they mean the same thing since congee is rice porridge? Not very sure.
