casserole of my life

Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz

concocted on Thu, 22 Jun 2006 @ 10:56 am for Rambles

This is all I hear when my husband talks to me these days.

What diet.  What exercise.  What calories.  What BMI.  These are all alien buzz words which sound BZZZ BZZZ BZZZ to me.

That man is so into controlling his weight problem that he is getting OBSESSED.  I know losing weight is good for his health, helps his back problem, makes him look better, blah blah blah.  But surely not to the extent of sacrificing our common interest in eating?  What used to be “you want supper?” has been replaced by “supper is bad for my weight.”  If this is not tragic, I don’t know what is.

I love to eat!  I love junk food!  I love chocolates!  I hate exercises!  I don’t know anything about calories!  I don’t care about BMI!  DIET to me means to DIE with a T!  WHAT, IS THE MEANING OF LIFE WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ENJOY FOOD?

Anyway, I sense that his weighty obsession will create serious problems for us.  As it is, it has brought out the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY.

The GOOD thing is I now have a valid excuse when I eat his share of the tidbits.  “Oooh, that’s bad for your weight.  I eat!”  “Wow, those calories will be difficult to burn. I eat!”  “No no, that’ll ruin all your exercises. I eat!”

So the BAD thing is I’ve really put on some weight and I now have more fat flaps around my tummy than before.

As for the UGLY…erm…it’ll rear its head after my man reads this entry bitching about his BZZZ.

  1. Hey.. but from whatever glimpses of photos you had shown us.. you are very slim.. no need to look after the weight but still slim.. which is good. High metabolic rate?

My man is also obsessed about his weight.. but I don’t care. I always tell him I’m eating for 2. Last time, b’cos I was nursing Zara.. Now, I’m pregnant. :P

  2. SS, I can understand how u feel as what is life without the ability to enjoy food? And I’ll never dump my $$$ for the ugly to swallow slimming pills, dirty juices and yucky coffee! But having say that we shdnt abuse food and put our health into the state not able to enjoy good food further.

Recently this has been our concern too esp me, metabolism rate is going down! However we still can enjoyed our food, just need more self discipline and dont indulge. It may be a good opportunity to develope another common interest with the hubby? Swimming, dancing, yoga, ball games or… exotic sport? ;)

  3. hmm…my man’s weight has also been going up up and away since I known him but I don’t see him trying to bring it down.

I am like you, I love to munch esp junk food, I love suppers and I hate to exercise…..so when people do ask me if I exercise? I will say, housework is my exercise….excuses excuses excuses…kekeke

My motto is eat first then say….kekeke…when my clothes feel a little tighter than usual…I will stop munching for a couple of days then resume again….some habits are hard to kick esp my junkie munching habit…kekekeke

  4. Hubby belongs to the rare group of ‘never grow fat no matter how much he eat’. He has the habit of taking supper but i wonder where all his fats go to!! (perhaps to me?) :P

For me, i can’t resist tidbits - especially chocolates and icecream!! Chips are my favourite too, oh, and prawn crackers… ;)Hee hee…the list can go on and on…

  5. Seems like I’m the odd one out here. I love to exercise not really to fit into my clothes but I like the ‘high’ I get after the workout. I feel like the pink bunny in the Duracell advert, so full of energy!!! ;)

  7. Oh, I am so happy to find a snacking club here. In fact, I can’t resist food too! I do jog, but not as much as snacking. Oh dear, worry later.

    LOL!

  8. People always talk about controlling weight. Well I am trying to gain weight but no success. My metabolism is too high.

  9. Thank goodness mine is not like that.. always make me feel bad if he loses weight and me on the hand, gaining weight. Argh. He’s afraid to gain weight for his look or for health?

  10. Think positively, at least he’s not a vegetarian, or tries to be one. That would be more restrictive for you. But I know what you mean, since you both have enjoyed going for supper, and visiting eating places as a leisure. Well, as for me, I’m the one who enjoys eating. My DH simply eats to live. So if I need to find eating kakis, it would be my sister, cousins and friends…

  11. ZM: Maybe I do have higher metabolism rate but it’s slowing down. I get fat around the tummy, thighs and arms. Common women problems.

wtgr: I agree we should be more health conscious as we age. My husband has to lose weight cos he has developed hypertension. But of late, he’s becoming more obsessed. We swim a bit together but that’s all. I’m only into yoga and *ahem* quite lazy even doing that.

Jan: Hehe…I’m like you too. If I feel a bit fat, I cut down my carbo intake for a few days and lose a few inches off…

Eileen: Oh ya, I noticed from the pix you’ve posted that your hubby is not fat. But neither are you leh…

DR: Yah, I noticed you’re quite energetic when it comes to exercising…Energiser Bunny?

Ashes: Chicken wings I also like! Me will die without chocolates!

MS: Snack club okay, as long as we don’t compete for the same snacks until NO STOCK!

Loong: That means you’re quite thin? It’s okay. Maybe you belong to the category that will “bloom” after marriage.

Erika: For health reasons really…but of late getting more obsessed.

EE: He will still eat with me cos he still loves food, but the frequency is lesser. And unlike you, I don’t have any kakis as he has been the only one.

  13. [...] But when we arrived at our favourite place, he only ordered one plate of fried hokkien mee. Needless to say, it must be his bzzz bzzz bzzz acting up again. I was sorely disappointed because sharing wasn’t on my mind. I had wanted to polish off a full plate by myself! ME: One plate for two of us? No enough lah… [...]
