Super whiney
He’s SO whiney. So much so it drives us CRAZY on some days. He whines about the smallest things. Like not being able to line up his toy cars in the order he desires or not being able to stack his legos properly. Kind of anal, in his own ways.
Scared of shadows
Out of the blue, he’s now VERY frightened of shadows. Particularly shadows of the ceiling lights and cornices in the living room. It’s so bad that we have to let him have his meals in his toy room now. He’ll make a dash from one room to another if he has to pass by the living room and sometimes he does it with his eyes closed!
Same old clothes
I’ve stopped buying him new clothes. Because he just won’t wear the new stuff. He keeps picking up the same clothes to wear everytime and there is no way I can make him put on the newer ones cos he’ll kick up a big fuss. So it just seems that he doesn’t have enough clothes to wear.
Vegetables & fruits
He’s been having constipation lately cos he’s been refusing to eat his vegetables and fruits. I used to be able to feed him greenies for every meal without any problems but one day, he decided to spit them all out. Now, he’ll only eat tomatoes, bean sprouts and carrots. As for fruits, he only eats apples and even that requires coercion sometimes. I’ve tried other fruits, with limited success on bananas. So to aid his bowel movement, I’ve resorted to making him a cup of honey each day, his very first sweet drink.
Schooling anxieties
For some strange reasons, he has been exhibiting anxieties again each morning. He’ll tell me the night before that he doesn’t want to go to school. He’ll take a LONG time to finish his milk every morning, to buy himself more time at home. At the school, he’ll cling on to me tightly and has to be literally, pried away. But strangely, this only happens when I bring him to school as nothing like that happens when his dad brings him.
Learning interest
He’s talking a lot and expanding his vocabulary rapidly. However, he still has no interest in learning Chinese. If he speaks a word or two, his accent is weird. He loves nature and willl make me go through pictures of trees, leaves, flowers, sun, clouds and waterfall on the computer with him everyday after his meals. At times, he’ll try to scribble something out of what he sees. If I’m not at home to do this activity with him, I was told he’ll go to my PC and angrily slam my mouse on the desk.
Double eyelids
Oh, his double eyelids are appearing more frequently, especially after his naps. I’m hoping they’ll become a permanent feature very soon.

He’s super cute. Love those pictures. And whiny sticks around until about age 4 or 5, at least in these parts.

I’m experiencing first-hand the stomping tantrums of a whiney 1yr old right now. It’s so scary and I really wanna run away. Is this part of growing up? Were we that difficult ourselves? If we were, this must be our retribution for bullying our parents back then.

“Super Whiney” - Haha… join the Mothers Turned Hysterical Club caused by whining.
Whining can cause hypertension more than anything else. Apart from maid issues, that is. ,-)

At least Gavin still takes his tomatoes, bean sprouts and carrots. Both my kids spit out ALL the veges I give them. Luckily they love fruits.

Nice pix of him!!
I can imagine Zara looking like this when she’s Gavin’s age.
He’s a boy with moods huh? Or do they all get moody at this age? Some thing I have to prepare myself for?

Nice pictures of Gavin..very well captured!
Super Whiney - that’s how i would describe Damien too…
Is it true about the term - “whiney threes”? Ahhh..just when we taught we’re done with terrible twos…
About his school anxieties, i’m sure it’s just a passing phase, remember Damien went through the same process not too long ago? All will be well again soon! *hugs*

when i read what you are writing about Gavin, it’s exactly what I am going thro now, except mine comes from 2 of them. There are days when they are simply angels..not whiney and super corporative but on bad day….I really don’t know what to do…haiz

I do not understand the fascination with double eyelids. Some people look find with single eyelids. Hehe but then again, who am I to say - I got double eyelids too! =)

Strange behaviour.
Do you think he is being bullied in school?

BBM: Whiney till 4 or 5??? OMG! *pulls hair*
DR: Sounds like it is…but I don’t remember my nephews being particularly whiney though.
MS: *Gasp for air*
Mumsgather: At least they eat more fruits. Let’s hope they’ll try to eat more vege…
ZM: He’s not moody but just very whiney…More like attention seeking. I thought it’s just him but sounds like many kids are like that as well. But I’ve heard and seen several exceptions too.
Eileen: Ya lor…one day don’t want to go to school then next day don’t want to come home from school!
Jan: 2 of them whining together…. jia lat!
Loong: Hehe…so would you give up your double eyelids?
Ivan: I am not sure as I haven’t heard anything about this but more likely, he’s afraid of the teacher.
