casserole of my life

Pipple Power

concocted on Fri, 5 May 2006 @ 1:59 pm for Commentaries

Last evening, we were stuck in a horrendous jam at Ang Mo Kio but we were surprisingly cool about it. That’s because we knew everyone was rushing to watch the opposition rally.

Cars were parked illegally on all sides of the road.  I think if they can pile their cars up, they would.  They parked and just walked, despite the long distance, to hear what the candidates have to say.

I was not at the rally but I could feel the energy and excitement from inside the car.  If not because Gavin was sleepy, we would have gone to support.  My FIL who went, said about 100K of people were there.  Wow, just imagine the buzz.

I really hope people went because they wanted to hear the candidates and not just to join in the heat.  Tonight, I hope to get to watch the final rally.  I also hope that come tomorrow, Singaporeans who can vote will have the courage to use their Pipple Power.

  2. Er… I was stuck too, rather, not being able to catch a cab. Even the MRT trains stopped at AMK only, for a while.

    Elections buzz is hot!!!

  3. Phew… I just ended a very long political debate with my fav aunt, over MSN!

Eileen, think you must go down to hear the rally for the real thing. Think CNA censored a lot of stuff.

  4. You know what? I don’t watch our National TV. Although I subscribe to the main papers, I only skim the headlines just to see the joke of the trash paper. Actually, if they really want to control us, they should never have given us broadband access and cable TV. Also the easiest way for them to resolve the decreasing population issue is to clone puppets without brains. That way, save the trouble to brainwash even!

  7. I attended the WP rally at AMK that night (so i was one of the people who caused the traffic jam!) and also last night at Serangoon stadium. Not that what the opposite candidates were saying anything I didn’t already know, it was just good to hear someone articulate your sentiments and to know that there are many other Singaporeans who share your views and hopes.

  8. Did you get to watch the final rally? Now the results is out, with the high percentage of votes given to the oppositions, moi guessing the ruling party would now have to work harder and smarter than before?

  9. I noticed it’s us living abroad who can’t imagine a credible opposition. The Singapore media has served its master well.
