We spent the mornings this weekend having breakfasts at the countryside. Both mornings, we took this entry to our destination. Doesn’t it look like some restricted zone? But it’s really not restricted. Just secluded.

So where exactly is this remote place?
It’s the Seletar Country Club which overlooks the Lower Seletar Reservoir. This is the first visit for Gavin and me inside the club, thanks to Daddy Totoro’s golfing connections. In the past, I’ve only seen its exterior when I dropped Daddy off for his games.

The inside of the club feels somewhat like a retreat with its Zen-like landscapes. It’s kind of serene here with the vast expanse of greenery, plants and water features. Plus there were not that many people around. Gavin was especially thrilled to bits to find the many fountains and ponds. My boy loves nature, even if it’s man-made. These are the things that can keep him very happy for a LONG time.
We sat ourselves near a pond overlooking the greens to keep him occupied while we ate our breakfasts in peace. He kept himself busy checking out the different fountains, running around a lot and was never bored for a moment. At one point, the boy even surprised me with an interesting connection he made. I had asked him where he thought the water from the fountain flow to. And his answer? “Flow to the trees ah.” Now that’s definitely something I don’t remember explaining to him before.

Maybe the beauty of nature does work wonders to sharpen the kid’s observation.

Yeah, and the fresh air too, must be good for kids (and adults).
I used to go to this club with my friends years back. I loved the drive to and back from the club where you get a lovely view of the peaceful reservoir surroundings.

Gavin looked so satisfied with his breakfast, his arms folded behind his head and his mouth shaped a perfect ‘O’. Must have been a peaceful day for Mommy.

Hey..SS,
I was just telling Papa BoK .. about how i miss things like that.. where we can bring our kids out.. for nature stuff.. and not worry about being too cold.
Most times.. we have to hide indoors.. because it is way too cold out.. to be running around.
But maybe . .i am also pretty “kiasu” because i never wanna get cold sick.. because the doctors/hospitals here suxs big time. Waiting at emergency for 7hrs . .when chloe was like 10months old.. for hives all over her body 99% covered with hives.. was not a good experience at all for me. She was only a baby .. and nope. .they wouldn’t even see her til 4am in the morning..! $%^&##^%$$
Therefore, i never bring her out in the cold. Sad huh..??

Wow! That’s to nice! Compared to the madness of the city. We spent the whole weekend gallivanting at Orchard Road. I’m going to switch gears this coming weekend and go somewhere utterly green for breakfast.

I’m trying to search for places with more greens to go on weekends..is this open to public?
Sometimes kids just surprise us with their understanding…:)

this place looks really nice and serene!
It’s nice to bring a kid to places like that, they are free to explore, and we can have a pieceful meal.

Ahh, isn’t it nice to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy breakfast, in peace!

Fuzzoo: The drive in is quite a pleasure isn’t it? We enjoy it too.
DR: Hehe…he was doing a “stick up” with his hands. Learnt it from the looney tunes.
MB: I can understand how you feel about not wanting to let Chloe fall sick. I mean the medical system isn’t exactly friendly from what I’ve read so it’s no wonder you want to play it safe. I suppose it’s better to wait till it’s a bit warmer to bring her outdoors.
Diva: Yeah, a change of scenery would be nice once in a while.
Eileen: Unfortunately this place is not for public. Apart from the Botannicals, some of the reservoirs are nice too. And we sometimes bring him to Bishan Park to watch the dogs run around. The cafe which overlooks the Ponggol Park is quite a nice place to hang out too when it isn’t hot.
ZM: That’s why we were there for 2 mornings in a row.
KY: You bet!

Looks pretty exotic. Didn’t know such a place exist in Spore.
I like the way you did your collage.

The outside of the country club doesn’t look that enticing but the inside is really nice! Big pool indeed! Is the breakfast for Gavin himself or to share? That’s really a lot…

Thanks Ange! But it took time to load up those pix.
Erika: The breakfast is for us to share. He only wanted to eat the sausages.

[...] We’ve been spending many of our weekend mornings idling at Seletar Country Club recently. It was the same this weekend, except that we decided to venture beyond the club to check out the famousfortheirbuffalowings Sunset Grill & Pub and also, hunt down some wild cactus. Yesh, c-a-c-t-u-s. Only because my silly boy is soOoo into these thorny succulent plants nowadays. [...]
