casserole of my life

Inner beauty made easy

Plush! Skin AwakeningSince it’s highly unlikely that I’m going to eat my own placenta to save my skin, I’ve settled for something more natural and non-nauseating.  It’s called Plush! Skin Awakening, a 100% pure collagen formula made in Japan.

Collagen intake is the rage in Japan and I’ve been looking at ingesting natural collagen since two years ago.  I know Fancl carries a range of collagen products but it’ll cost me around $200 per month to maintain the regime.  The other one I’ve came across is organic but isn’t widely available.  So when I saw the ad for Plush!, I knew I must try it.

Designed in Japan using a patented batch-extraction technology to remove flavour, odour and fat content of collagen, the product can be easily dissolved into any food or beverage making it easier for consumption.

Collagen is major structural protein that makes up a quarter of all the protein in the human body. The product (derived from animals) repairs and rejuvenates skin, as well as stimulates more collagen production.

The product is available in three flavours of Original, Marine and Green Tea. The Original and Marine collagen is derived from mammals and fish respectively, while the Green Tea formulation contains green tea extract, which include detoxification, anti-oxidation, calorie burning and skin whitening benefits.

What I like about this daily supplement is that it is convenient and is almost tasteless.  Apart from improving my skin condition, the restorative effects of collagen aid in helping to support and maintain healthy joints and bones, which I’m also highly concerned about.  I’ve tried taking Glucosamine for my joints but it doesn’t agree with my body at all.  With this fat-free formula, I would be able to kill two birds with one stone.  Actually maybe more birds because collagen is also supposed to improve brain cells, blood vessels and other internal organs.

I paid almost $80 for a box and that’ll probably last me about half a month or less.  But after the initial intake, I can scale back to one box as a monthly beauty rejuvenation programme.

My husband asked me why I need to consume this since I’m already doing IPL.  My answer?  I’m taking a two-prong approach: maintaining beautiful skin from within and out.  In Chinese, this is known as li ying wai he! (Read: I’m super kiasu lah!)

  1. Hmm.. tell us the results later..
I actually don’t take any supplement (maybe I should), and I go for simple to use skin care.. this is because I’m too lazy to spend too much time.

Btw, the how’s the laser thingy working? I’m really thinking if I should zap away my oil seeds around my eyes.

  2. I’m keen… call me vain or whatever, I don’t mind. Haha. Where can I purchase this?

I hope this doesn’t sound too bimbo but I do take bottled birds nest twice a week. It’s especially good for lungs (think you can let Gavin have some from time to time) and I think, it does help my skin.

  4. All this is alien to me. Wouldn’t you have to ingest a great amount of collegen to affect the skin? I don’t know much, so if this is a dumb comment, pls ignore.

Oh, and what of the IPL treatment? You must be all recovered by now - you never said anything about the results.

  5. Zara’s Mama: The scabs have dropped and the spots are red. Need some time for it to lighten up. Will probably post an update pix again when it’s better. Need a month or more. Yes, I’m treating this as a supplement because of the various benefits. Hope I can continue for a while. I usually get lazy with such supplements after a while.  Btw, I’m not too sure if you need to zap away the oilseeds.  I was under the impression that some creams may work.  But do consult an expert on this.  It can be removed.

DR & Eileen: I got mine at Watson’s. I’m a sucker for such things. Last time I took Imedeen but too lazy to continue. I’m hoping I can sustain with this.

DR: Truth to be known, problem with stuff like these are the effects will stop after you don’t take them (but with everything else too). I’m also a believer of the benefits of bird nest. I believe a chief reason for Gavin looking so fair is because I took it diligently when I was pregnant.

Hsin: Collagen will need to be taken regularly for effects to be visible. I think you meant the laser treatment I did last time. Like I told Zara’s Mama, it is healing but still red. Will need about a month to post an-after pix.

  6. Yeah, I do agree. Once you started on something, the effects will continue as long as we are still on it, else it’s back to square one again.

Haven’t heard anything of Gavin’s health. Is he better now? Hopefully he can go for swimming lessons soon, for his health and also to widen his social circle.

  8. I’m also a believer of beauty from within. I tried Osim’s Nourish Refine and my face was more radiant after some weeks. I had people asking me if I used a skin whitener or comments that I look younger. But I stopped because I couldn’t afford to go on using it altho’ actually it’s not that expensive (compared to Imedeen). There is some debate about collagen. I have been told by nutritionists that collagen is just a protein and once you consume it, your body simply recognises it as a protein like protein from eggs or bird’s nest so you might get the same effects from cheaper sources of protein. Anyway, it’s worth a try. Let me know if it works!
