Shopping isn’t exactly one of my hobbies. I would only say it is a favourite pastime and a frequent needed Prozac to help lift my soul. Usually I shop alone, except for those times with my husband and my son where shopping comes way down their list of favourite things to do.
I don’t shop with friends simply because the limited time spent together with them are kept for precious exchanges and gossips. So it was something out of the norm that I shop hopped with Alyson for half a day yesterday, and surprising, accomplishing more than what I’ve set out to get.
I have to tell you that Alyson is 12 years my junior but I’ve always enjoyed her company. She’s not a close friend, but I would count her as a good friend and we do share some common interests despite the age difference. Read: either I’m damn hip or she’s quite an auntie.
Anyway, I met her at close to 1pm and we trotted from Wheelock to Tangs to Heeren to Centrepoint, breaking in between for a lunch and a dessert! By the time we finished at 5pm, I got more than the Birkenstock shoes which I had set out to buy. WOOT! Alyson, who already did her shopping the day earlier, didn’t find anything she like and ended up buying another pair of shoes at Xodus.
It was so much fun! I’ve not shop hopped for such a long time. Plus having a friend to ask for ideas and frank opinions was refreshing. I wouldn’t mind doing this more regularly. Well erm…provided my pocket is deep enough.

I like to shop alone too but shopping with girlfriends is also fun. My girlfriends and I once bought exactly the same pair of sandals and immediately put them on before meeting up with our hubbies and kids; took a while before one of kids noticed that all 4 mummies were wearing the same sandals.

Hehe…lidat means you’re also hip and definitely not aunty.
Hey, thanks for the lip gloss. That’s another nice thing about going out with you. Always get nice gifts.
Btw, the Stila 2-way cake is good if you want to consider next time. Better than my existing La Collin. According to my husband, it’s more natural on me.

Goodie lah, found something suitable for your skin tone. Their eyeshadows colour are also nice. Anyway when I learn makeup, my teacher did say stila & mac products are good. Okie, I will try stila’s 2 way cake when my existing one run out.

You certainly deserve a shopping break ever so often. Being a mom and having to drag around an unwilling husband and son is really no fun, so you should certainly take some time out for yourself once in a while!

Hee… you do not jog/run but all that walking about can also be tiring. I’m a BIG Stila fan. Would recommend the lip glaze, and their pot rouge (fantastic buy!). You might want to try Chanel’s 2 way-foundation; it’s surprisingly light with good coverage. I switched to Chanel after using Stila’s 2-way foundation for a few years.

DR: Thx for the tip. I’ve only used Chanel’s eyeshadow not their 2 way-foundation. Maybe will try it if I’m not happy with Stila’s later. Stila’s lip glaze is good? Was looking at it last time.

i enjoy shopping with friends too, it certainly beats “shopping” with a not-interested hubby and a super-active toddler..haha…

The one on the left is the Birkenstock sandals? Cool..
I really really love shopping.. but I prefer to shop alone if I’m searching for items and have no clue what I’m searching. But if I’d decided what I wanted, I prefer to shop with some one and ask for oppinion.
Shopping with a kid is never fun, shopping with a hip friend is always nicer..
