I just saw a clip of Madonna performing in SMAPXSMAP Christmas Special on youtube.com. She performed “Hung Up” dressed in a red leotard accompanied by her dancers, and then met Katsuken (Shingo Katori) from SMAP who did a parody of her dances. It was hilarious! I must try to watch her as a guest on bistro smap where I understand:
-
she was rude to Nakai
-
she dissed Shingo
-
she kissed Takuya!!!
SMAP is the boyband where my Takuya Kimura belongs and they’re HUGE in Japan. That’s why our Queen of pop went on two of their shows during her recent promotional tour. Grrrrrr…MUST WATCH THAT KISSING SCENE!

She’s 50 and still so HOT!

Is she breaking into the Japanese market?

I suppose Japan is considered a big market for these Western artistes in Asia so they’ve always given it a priority. Maybe she wants to do more there now.

Hahaha. Every time I see a foreign star on Japanese TV, I’m reminded of the parody they did on Lost in Translation. It’s true that the stars are so lost on these variety shows because they say so much in Japanese, but very little is actually translated to them. I can’t help but feel that they’re being laughed at. Madonna is big in Japan already, no need to promote herself, but it is a major stop on the world circuit, so all stars will suffer through this each time.

I think you may be right. I suppose a lot of times, there’s also the inter cultural differences between the Japanese and a Western artiste. So what is rude to one, maybe perfectly fine with the other.
