SOME mothers are so amazing. Not in the wonderful sense though. Amazing only because they are oblivous to their children’s health. Like allowing complete strangers to share their children’s food and in the process, have the stranger’s saliva transmitted to the little ones. Eeeeeew. Don’t these mothers know that diseases can be spread through the saliva? Surely this is common sense?
Well, it seems the answer is no when these strangers are celebrities. Specifically local celebrities Irene Ang and Chen Hanwei who were allowed to feed and eat a toddler’s porridge, using the same cutlery! One spoonful into Irene Ang’s mouth, another spoonful into the little tot’s mouth and one more spoonful into Chen Hanwei’s mouth. All the time using THE SAME SPOON! One mouth after another. No washing. No camera tricks.
I saw this disgusting scene in this stupid variety programme dubbed Maid to Order II last Friday evening on Channel 8 and I almost spat at the TV. I didn’t eventually because it is afterall, my own TV. But I freaked out. What was the mother thinking? How can she let them do this to her little girl? Strangers with no blood relation? Hasn’t it occured to her that these adults could be carriers of some virus? This is just so ridiculously unhygenic! Yak! Pui!
It seems that the mother adores Chen Hanwei so my guess is that she was too dazzled and dazed. But surely some other adults who were around could have pointed it out right? Or were they all too conscious of the fact that these are celebrities so whatever they were doing must be right? STUPID! I was so indignant that I switched off the TV and then went to bitch about it to my husband.
Call me paranoid I don’t care. I don’t even allow my maid to blow at my son’s soup. If she wants to test the temperature or taste of the food, she will have to use a complete new spoon. My husband and I are the only ones who occasionally share his food, but we still do not share cutlery as far as possible. This is basic food hygiene, for goodness sake. We are talking about a little toddler whose immunity system is not fully built up.
Celebrity maid my foot. One thing for sure. If I have a maid like them, she’ll be fired in no time.

Saw that episode by accident (not a supporter of TCS-produced shows and will never be) and I really feel like puking! Stupid people. I thought only grandmas from the sixties do that! But then again, they are from that era after all and have no kids of their own.
Arigato gozaimasu for putting up the button! *big hug*

Me no supporter of TCS shows too. Accidentally caught this stupid one while channel surfing. All the more anti-TCS now.

Perhaps, the mother of the kid couldn’t do much to stop the spoon sharing, given the circumstances (celebrity, filming, etc). Yes, I wouldn’t allow that either.
This reminded me of an incident at KFC (in Spore), where a young mom, chewed chicken thoroughly in her mouth, before taking the chewed-up mash out to feed her young baby. I was speechless!

This is totally disgusting!
Some mothers simply don’t care a wee bit about their little ones hygiene, i saw one mother putting a spoonful of mashed potato into her mouth before taking it out to feed her little one, my jaw just dropped…

Yucks!
I won’t even share a spoon with any adults (except occasionally my hubby), how can I let my kid share. Their immunity after all is not as good as ours.
Anybody complain to the TV channel that screen that show?

I don’t know if anyone complained, but I am complaining in my way here. But some pple think that I’m kicking up a fuss for nothing. If I really kick a fuss, then I should write to the station to complain right? I think these pple aren’t mothers so they don’t know how we think.

Saw the feeding sence too! Was totally taken aback! You are not being pananoid. I was also surprised that the mom allowed the TV to capture her girl naked during bathing time. Upper half body ok lah, but full view, no no for me, especially the camera was rolling for so long!
