I am on a purple gold acquisition rampage!
Last week I bought a white gold bracelet with a piece of pseudo purple gold from Tianpo and today, I bought this real solid purple gold pendant from Lee Hwa Jewellery.
Well, purple gold DO exist and is actually a unique gold alloy composed of 80% pure gold and 20% of other metal components. In fact, at 19k, it is of a slightly higher value than the 18k white gold and even has a trade-in value.
So was I then duped at Tianpo last week? Well, not exactly. Although they’ve said it’s somewhat like purple gold, they’ve explained and stated in the invoice that it is a purple powder coating on white gold. The price was also certainly not reflective of the real purple gold.
Whatever it is, the most important is that I am happy wearing both pieces, pseudo or real. ![]()
