I almost fell off the chair this morning when I saw the final score for last night’s football matches.
Zu had bought the bets for two games - Internationals Friendly and World Cup Qualifier. He was rooting for England for the former and the Czech Republic for the latter. Although he had planned to stay up to watch, he just couldn’t keep his eyelids open because he was too dog-tired. After tucking my boy to sleep, I woke up around 11.30pm and watched a bit of “Kang Xi Lai Le” before doing some research on the net. Since I was on the net, I decided to check the live score. The game between Argentina and England started sometime after midnight and at half time, it was a draw. Then slightly after half-time, Argentina scored another goal. Fwah! I quickly gave Zu an update but he was too tired to acknowledge. So I thought it might be an Argentina win or draw. By 80 minutes, England was still not scoring and I thought the fate was sealed. I logged out and went to bed.
This morning, Zu woke up and quickly logged in to check the results for the game between Norway and the Czech Republic, thinking that he had lost the England game. We saw the score 0 - 1 and was relieved. Well, at least one game saved, we thought. Then we just scrolled down the screen to check the score for the Argentina - England game.
2 - 3!!! Whoo-hoo! England won! I couldn’t believe it. Michael Owen scored the last 2 goals at the 88 and 90 minutes! Wow kou! Just when the world thought it’s over for England, they managed to salvage the game. Yipee!!! Zu won both games! No wonder the seasoned football punters always say the ball is round.
