Today is an “eat-out” day for Gavin! No food at home or from home except for breakfast. This is highly unusual as I always ensure that he has home-cooked food no matter where he is. But since he’s older now, I’ve decided to be less anal about his meals and be more flexible occasionally. So for lunch, he had fried bee hoon at Crystal Jade Kitchen and will probably have some fried rice with french fries for his dinner later. He is having his nap now so that we can bring him “slimming” later. Haha…that’s how he pronounces swimming.
He also had his 3rd lesson at the Montessori school this morning and it appears that he is doing better, according to the directress. While he’s still not socialising, he’s more focus in completing his tasks. I had initially thought that perhaps he’s really not ready for the place because he is just so hyper. Somehow the girls tend to do better because they’re more well-behaved and also more keen in group play.
Anyway, I was quite turned off by a certain mother in the group today. I’ve always considered myself a little fierce as a parent but this mother beats me hands down. She spent a good 10 minutes berating her 2.5-year-old daughter over some plastic bottles the girl had accidentally dropped while playing. Even the teacher who tried to make peace was told off. She only stopped when her little girl was clearly traumatised and started crying. Wow kau! It was damn distressing!
I took an instant dislike to this mother. She looked and acted like a Mrs Smarty Pants and righteously told the teacher that she cannot allow her daughter to lie. I seriously wonder what she was trying to prove in front of so many people. And when I was complaining to another parent that my son has very short attention span, she interrupted our conversation to say that attention span can be trained. Oh, shut up! Did I ask for your opinion?
