casserole of my life

Footloose

Damn the court shoes! They should be made defunct and be banished from this earth forever! They are such a torture to my pretty feet and my dainty toes. And yet, I still have to wear them! WHY? Because I need to come across as a credible presenter. Having my toes properly concealed speaks volume of my professionalism. To show off any of my beautifully pedicured toes is akin to telling my audience not to take me seriously.

So no matter how lovely my toes are, I should never flaunt them in a presentation session with open-toed shoes. The de facto standard is the court shoe or pumps even though they are mostly uncomfortable and hideous. Perhaps the taboo against open-toed shoes really has something to do with the corporate world not being able to deal with femininity according to this article here.

But whatever. The truth is in certain situations, I really don’t want to deviate from the norm. I don’t want to be deemed lesser. Because it’ll just make me feel immensely self-conscious and uncomfortable. And those are definitely not the emotions I want to deal with when many eyes are on me.

So I just have to bear with the pain from that damn pair of court shoes. Those cursed shoes that caused my big toes to hurt so badly even after a week. In fact, they were so bruised from my last presentation that the big toenail on my left foot has since died and dropped off. No kidding. It’s really that bad. The big toenail on my right foot is just buying some more time, because it is also fairly bruised.

And I can definitely forget about pointy-toed shoes even though they’re in season now. They are just not meant for my toes.
