casserole of my life

Chic or vintage

concocted on Wed, 6 Jul 2005 @ 6:19 am for Femilicious

I didn’t realised Prada has launched its very own Prada Perfume. I saw a picture of it in a Hong Kong shopping Prada perfumeguide that was bundled with I-weekly. I like the design - a simple rectangular clear-glass bottle with a plum-coloured bulb-shaped sprayer. Giving it a very chic, at the same time, very vintage feel.

Perfumes have an allure for most women….but not me. I simply dislike that artificial fragance on me. I have in fact bought dozen brands of perfumes before, which I’ve never used. They were always for my mum because she loves perfume. I remember I used to like smelling her when I was a child. She was always very sweet smelling and her favourite was Chanel No. 5.

So I was quite surprised when I looked at the picture of Prada Perfume and thought I might use it. Must be Prada. I am just a sucker for anything labelled Prada! To me, the brand epitomize a modern woman with simplicity and style. Then again, it could just be the bulb-shaped atomizer pump. It’s so Charleston! I can just picture myself as a flapper during the roaring ’20s, pumping some Prada parfum on my neck before heading off to the jazz club doing the Charleston. I even have the tune in my head now. Hmmm……

So am I enchanted by its modern appeal or its vintage feel? I just can’t decide…… maybe both?

As I was searching the web about the perfume and the price, I stumbled upon Prada’s press statement about their perfume: “The essence of Prada is encapsulated in a textile label on the outer box, linking the new fragrance with fashion. An atomizer pump completes the allusion to traditional perfumery.” So there you’ve got it. Clever design and packaging! They just know what should go into a product to make a woman tick. And whether I would buy it for its modern elegance or vintage element, Prada is clearly the winner! Hehe, can someone please tell Prada to give me a bottle of their perfume for this free publicity please…..
